King, Nickolas

By 1886 a number of families of Treadwell employees started to arrive. Some of the first permanent residents on Douglas Island were Richard McCormick, Nickolas King, George Shatter, Mike McKanna, P.H. Fox, and Henry Mead.

Nicholas King and Alice Develin King moved to Douglas from Amador City, California. Nicholas came to Juneau in June 1885, and the family followed July 24, 1888.

They had four children, John H. King born in January 1879, Sarah "Sadie" A. King-Cashen was born on December 3, 1882 in Amador City, California, Alice J. King born in August 1889 and Catherine L. King born in July 1893 were born in Alaska.
