Slujo, Mat

Mat Slujo was born January 15, 1886 in Austria.

He married Sarka Krasel-Slujo, was the daughter of Anton Krasel, a tailor, who operated a business on St. Anns Avenue in Douglas as early as 1910.

Slujo was reportedly the last person to die at the Treadwell before it closed. He worked at the Ready Bullion mine, the only mine of the Treadwell group of mines not flooded in the 1917 cave-in.

Died May 15, 1921 at age 35 and buried at Douglas Catholic Cemetery.
