In 1890, the Frank Leslie Newspaper Expedition was formed to explore the largely unknown land between the Alaska Coast and the Yukon. The expedition was led by E. Hazard Wells, and included E. J. Glave, A. B. Schanz, F. B. Price, and Jack Dalton.
